National Student Art Glass Prize 2010 winner North Lands blog

SCA Open Day

As usual the glass studio had the hot shop running all day with mould making, glass cutting and flame-working demonstrations scheduled through out the day. I was so busy I forgot to take pictures!

Matt Szosz: Visiting Artist

Matt Szosz is this years Stephen Procter Fellowship 'Fellow'. Matt and Anna visited SCA from Canberra to give us a demo of one of his 'inflatables' and give us a talk covering what Andrew called 'his experimental practice'. Experimental, innovative, awesome!
Matt inflates stacked sheets of float glass (see pic and demo below), makes glass lace with a turntable and mechanical arm holding a crucible of molten glass (I'll see if I can find a video of that) and generally does cool stuff with glass.
